Food producers, Pangkarra Foods received recognition amongst the finest producers in South Australia at the 2016 delicious. Produce Awards, where their Pangkarra Chickpeas (cooked) was awarded as a State Winner.

 

The 2016 delicious. Produce Awards in partnership with Miele saw a new approach to the Awards’ nomination process with the country’s top chefs and restaurateurs asked to nominate the passionate producers they work so closely with.

 

Last week’s announcement of the 2016 State Winners is the result of the delicious. Produce Awards State Judges meeting to taste their way through the crop of nominees in the Earth, Dairy, Paddock and Sea categories. The delicious. Produce Awards Judging Panel consists of 39 Australian food leaders who all dedicate their time to support Australian producers and drive innovation in the industry

 

The Pangkarra Chickpeas were State Winners in the category, from the Earth.

 

“Australia’s produce, producers and chefs are globally renowned for excellence. Opening nominations in 2016 exclusively to the country’s leading industry experts has meant the calibre of entries this year is unprecedented in terms of quality and innovation, including some really exciting new producers we haven’t seen on the Produce Awards stage before,” said delicious. Pangkarra Foods received the Foodland SA New Product Awardat the 2016 South Australian Food Industry Awardson Friday 25 November 2016.

Pangkarra Foods received this award for the new pulse product range, which includes Pangkarra Chickpeas (cooked), Pangkarra

Roasted Chickpeas with Garlic and Sea Salt, Pangkarra Roasted Bean Mix with Lemon, Thyme, Black Pepper and Sea Salt, and Pangkarra Roasted Chickpeas and Faba Beans with Rosemary and Sea Salt.

More than 700 people attended the evening, and a record number of entries were received for the 2016 Program.

The 2016 South Australian Food Industry Awards Program recognises and celebrates individuals and businesses that are making their mark in the food industry by demonstrating their outstanding vision, leadership and innovation.

We're very pleased to announce we received a

Gold Medal for our Australian Chickpeas 450g (cooked) and a Silver Medal for our Pangkarra Wholegrain Spaghetti at the 2016 Australian Food Awards (AFA).

“We are thrilled to be medallists in this prestigious award program, said Katherine Maitland, Manager Pangkarra Foods. “It really confirms that all the hard work is paying off and our products really are of a very high standard.”

“The judging was based on a set criteria, including taste, aroma, appearance, colour, consistency, size and overall liking. The Australian Chickpeas scored 99 out of 100- a near perfect score. The Pangkarra Wholegrain Spaghetti also scored very well, with an overall point system of 82 out of 100,” she said.

The AFA, conducted by The Royal
Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) builds on the success of RASV’s Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards (RMFFA) and is Australia’s highest standard for premium awards.

The awards offer entrants the opportunity to benchmark against set criteria; receive invaluable independent feedback from industry
experts; and be rewarded for excellence.
 
 

 

We are thrilled to announce the Pangkarra Wholegrain Pappardelle received a silver medal and the Pangkarra Wholegrain Spaghetti received a bronze medal in the 2016 Sydney Fine Food Show! 

 

The Sydney Royal Fine Food Competitions reward excellence in Australian produce. These competitions are held seasonally in summer and spring. In summer, competitions include coffee, aquaculture and professional bakery while spring is the season for regional food, branded beef, branded lamb, deli meat, pasta and olive oil.

 

Sydney Royal Fine Food competitions as with all Sydney Royal Shows are noted for their independence and high standards. All products entered into these food shows must be Australian and are judged blind.

Specialist judging panels comprise diverse experts, for example, winemakers, technical experts, chefs, industry specific media, marketers and educators. 

 

The level of excellence is not compromised year to year at Sydney Royal food shows. That’s because awards are not bestowed on the best products on the day; rather products are awarded based on a pre-determined standard.
